A group of dynamic young people from Asian region was selected to understand the gender and human rights dimensions that are important in building the capacity to be able to hold governments accountable for fulfilling the rights of their citizens. Building alliances with communities with the young leaders to bring a positive change in the society working together meaningfully.

Digital Transformation in Pakistan

Tariq Malik, Chief Technical Advisor of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) conducted a session with six young entrepreneurs on 15th December, 2020 to discuss digital transformation in Pakistan to raise a voice for reaching at Government level. Laraib Abid from MASHAL, Ali Yar and Fahad from MOHAFIZ, Ali and Wamiq from DeafTawk and Arhum from Connect Hear presented their ideas during the session.

For Women’s Entrepreneurship Day 2020, Laraib Abid represented MASHAL, a woman & Youth lead organization in a session by Youth Co:Lab - a project co-led by UNDP and Citi Foundation - and UNDP Asia-Pacific Gender team. Entrepreneurship is a powerful catalyst through which young women in Asia-Pacific can generate jobs for themselves and their peers, tackle challenges faced by their communities, and drive inclusive growth, gender equality and sustainable development. However, due to the combination of their age and gender, young women in Asia-Pacific face many interconnected barriers that constrain their participation in entrepreneurship.

National Seminar on Family Planning and Reproductive Health

National Seminar on Family Planning and Reproductive Health was organized by Rahnuma-Family Planning Association of Pakistan and co-hosted by UNFPA and Government of Pakistan at Avari Hotel, Lahore. MASHAL was invited to take part where vision 2030 framework and Pakistan’s Statement regarding Population Program i.e., ICPD was discussed. Fraternity members from all provinces of Pakistan took part in the seminar where progress and future strategies on the provincial level was presented.

We celebrated World Contraception Day with young people through social media campaign. The day’s mission is to improve awareness of all contraceptive methods available and enable young people to make informed choices on their sexual and reproductive health. One of the major causes of poverty in Pakistan is the alarming rate of increase in the population. Pakistan’s current rate of population growth is 2.1 % which is much higher than in the countries of the region.
